The journey of our Executive MBA program took an exciting turn during our February residency with the introductory session on the Financial Accounting subject. To say it was a challenging start would be an understatement. The faculty briefing session laid the foundation, giving us an overview of what was to come: over 70 videos to watch, pre-class submissions, and an MCQ test. As the information sank in, most of us, especially those from non-finance backgrounds, were wondering how on earth we would manage all this along with the already demanding Class 2 submissions.
But hold on, here’s the good news: the videos created by Professor Abhijit Phadnis, PhD (IIT Bombay) were truly masterpieces. The content was so engaging, so clear, and so well-explained that, despite our initial panic, most of us actually started to grasp the concepts.
Here’s a quick recap of the past four days:
By the end of these four intense days, we had developed the ability to analyse financial statements with ease, understanding the inner workings of companies and evaluating their financial health. It was truly hands-on learning, guided expertly by Professor Abhijit Phadnis, PhD (IIT Bombay) who made complex accounting concepts seem intuitive and relatable. His ability to link theoretical ideas with real-world data and case studies was crucial in making this subject accessible, even for those of us with little to no finance background.
However, the experience wasn’t limited to academics alone. Karaoke night - where we let loose and had an unforgettable time. It was an unexpected but delightful way to relax and connect.
After these four days, one thing is clear: this program is not just about acquiring knowledge but about experiencing personal and professional growth in ways we never imagined.
